Disposable email domains list

ZapBounce matches every address against a list of 8,981 disposable email domains, last updated 24 September 2026. The list is the open-source disposable-email-domains project on GitHub plus our own additions, refreshed weekly, and a match sets disposable to true on the verification result.

The short version

  • 8,981 disposable domains, last updated 24 September 2026. Both figures are read from the list file at build time.
  • The source is the open-source disposable-email-domains list on GitHub, merged with our own additions every week.
  • Every verify response carries a disposable flag next to the result, so you see the verdict and the throwaway match together.
  • A disposable domain can still be valid or catch-all. You decide whether to block it at signup or suppress it on a list.

What the list holds today

Here's the list as this build read it. The weekly sync replaces the open-source part whole, and our additions sit in a separate file so they never get lost in a refresh.

You'll know the names at the top of the list: mailinator.com, yopmail.com, guerrillamail.com, 10minutemail.com and maildrop.cc all match. Each one hands out a working inbox in seconds, and nobody plans to read it next week.

Want to test a single domain right now? The free disposable email checker shows the entry it matched. The term itself is defined in the glossary under disposable email address.

How the disposable flag shows up in a result

ZapBounce returns one of four results for an address and three flags beside it. Disposable is a flag, so it never hides what the mail server actually said.

AddressresultdisposableWhat you'd do
jo@mailinator.comvalidtrueBlock at signup, or suppress before you send
old@maildrop.ccinvalidtrueRemove: the mailbox is already gone
sam@yourclient.comvalidfalseKeep and mail
team@catchalldomain.comcatch_allfalseSend with care, watch the bounces

Illustrative rows. Field names match the /v1/verify response.

Keeping the flag apart from the result matters for your billing and your data. A throwaway inbox that accepts mail is a real verdict of valid, and you get that verdict plus the disposable match in one response. The API reference lists every field, including role and free_provider.

Where to use the list

  1. At the signup form

Call the verify endpoint as the address is typed and stop a disposable match before it reaches your database. Real-time verification covers the form side in detail.

  2. Before a campaign

Upload the list as a file and filter the disposable column in the download. Your original columns stay in place, and credits start at $5 for 1,000 checks.

  3. In a CRM or form tool

Send the address to the API from a webhook or a Zapier step, then write the disposable flag back to the contact record.

The disposable email blocking guide walks through the signup case, and real-time verification shows the form flow. For a list you already have, bulk verification handles the upload.

Questions about the disposable domain list

How many disposable email domains does ZapBounce check against?

8,981 domains as of 24 September 2026. 8,971 come from the open-source disposable-email-domains list and 10 are our own additions. The count on this page is generated from the list file itself at every build.

Where does the disposable domain list come from?

The base is disposable-email-domains, an open-source list on GitHub published under CC0. ZapBounce merges it with throwaway and forwarding providers we see on signup forms, and refreshes the merged list every week.

Is a disposable address marked invalid?

No. Disposable is a flag, and the result stays what the mail server said: valid, invalid, catch_all or unknown. A throwaway mailbox often accepts mail for an hour, so it can be valid and disposable at the same time.

Does the disposable check cost extra?

The disposable flag comes back in the same verify response as the result, so there's no second call to make. Credits start at $5 for 1,000 checks and never expire.

How do I check one domain against the list?

Paste the domain or a full address into the free disposable email checker. For a signup form or a list, call the verify API or upload the file, and read the disposable field on each row.
