Refunds and credits
Most refund policies in this market exist because credits expire. Ours do not, which removes the usual argument before it starts.

1. What you are never charged for
The first four rows never cost a credit, so there is nothing to claim back afterwards. You don't have to ask, and nothing needs approving. The last two are what a credit buys, and every result row carries a billed field so you can check our count against yours.
| What happened | Credits charged | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The address came back unknown | 0 | We established nothing, so there is nothing to bill for |
| The same address appeared twice in one upload | 0 for the repeat | You asked one question, not two |
| The request ended in an error, or was rate limited | 0 | The address never reached verification |
| The call used a sandbox key | 0 | Nothing connects to a mail server in sandbox mode |
| The address came back valid or invalid | 1 | A definite answer is what a credit buys |
| The address came back catch-all | 1 | It is a real finding about the domain, even though the mailbox stays unproven |
2. Credits you have bought and not used
They stay on your account until you spend them. There is no twelve-month clock and no monthly reset on paid credits. The free tier is separate: 100 credits that renew every month on their own and cost nothing, so there is nothing in it to refund.
3. If you want your money back anyway
We haven't published a fixed refund window or formula, and we won't invent one here to look tidy. If you bought credits by mistake, bought the wrong size, or something on our side failed and cost you credits it should not have, write to billing@zapbounce.com with the account email and what happened. A person reads it and answers.
4. If a job went wrong on our side
Write to the same address with the job and what you saw. We would rather hear about it than have you quietly absorb the cost.
