How WP.pl answers a probe
What the server does when we open a connection and ask about one address.
- Unknown local parts return a 550 and the responses are stable.
- Rate limits are moderate and cooperative compared with German or French providers.
- The o2.pl domain is a separate brand on the same operator, and tlen.pl came from a retired messaging product.
- Polish diacritics occasionally appear in local parts and need correct encoding.

We verify the WP.pl family normally and report the domain, since knowing whether a Polish list leans WP or Onet tells you something about where the data came from.
Sending to WP.pl mailboxes
Verification is one step. These are the things that decide whether the message lands.
- Polish consent practice follows the EU framework with local enforcement that takes it seriously.
- Gmail has taken a substantial share of younger Polish users, so a list heavy in wp.pl skews older.
- The tlen.pl domain is legacy data and a good age indicator.
o2.pl, tlen.pl and go2.pl share a front door
o2 and Wirtualna Polska became one company in 2014, but the DNS still keeps the two families apart. On September 19, 2026, wp.pl returned mx.wp.pl and mx5.wp.pl. o2.pl, tlen.pl, go2.pl and prokonto.pl all returned one host, mx.tlen.pl. It's the same owner with two front doors.
Say you've got 2,400 Polish rows and you're trying to work out why 300 of them finished much later than the others. Split by MX host and you may find the late ones all queued behind mx.tlen.pl. That isn't visible if your report only says WP group. Ask for the MX host as a column in your results export, and the pattern shows up with one sort. o2 has also offered its users the same login on its sister domains, so marta@o2.pl and marta@go2.pl can be one inbox. Treat a matching local part across that family as a probable duplicate and check engagement history before deciding which row to keep.
interia.pl is the one people misfile
Poland has a third big freemail name, Interia, and it's neither WP nor Onet. In the same lookup interia.pl returned mx.interia.pl, a separate operator. Lists sorted by hand often fold it into whichever Polish group is larger, and then its results muddy that group's numbers.
Here's a quick way to keep Polish reporting honest. Make four buckets from the MX record: mx.wp.pl, mx.tlen.pl, the Onet host and mx.interia.pl, with Gmail in a fifth. Then compare invalid rates between buckets on the same list. If one bucket's invalid rate is far above the others, you're probably looking at older data from one source, such as a signup form that ran years ago, and that's a sourcing conversation to have with whoever supplied the list. In that case the provider had nothing to do with it.
