Verifalia review

This review reads Verifalia on its own published pages, checked in September 2026. It covers the quality levels that set how hard each address is checked, the detail in its results, where it hosts your data, and how to test it on a list you already know.

Quality levels: paying for effort

Verifalia makes you choose how hard to push on each address. Standard runs one pass for 1 credit. High runs up to three for 2 credits, and Extreme up to nine for 4 credits, waiting up to two minutes on a slow mail server. It's an honest way to price effort, and it puts the choice in your hands.

The catch is on the invoice. A list run at Extreme uses four times the credits of the same list at Standard. Our Verifalia pricing page walks through the arithmetic. ZapBounce runs one check at one credit per address, and every tier is on the pricing page.

Detail in every result

Verifalia's strength for developers is its detailed classification of why an address failed. You can branch on a precise reason rather than a broad label. The trade is code: the more statuses you branch on, the more your integration depends on that vendor's vocabulary.

ZapBounce keeps a closed set of four results, valid, invalid, catch_all and unknown, and puts the detail in a reason field, such as mailbox_not_found or greylisted. The four results are fixed and new reasons are only ever added, so code that branches on the result keeps working. The reference is on our API page.

Uptime, outages and Yahoo

Verifalia publishes an uptime SLA, a promise about the service being reachable. It also published a two-day disruption in April 2026, when Yahoo changed how its servers answered. That disclosure is to its credit.

It also shows a protocol fact every verifier lives with. Yahoo and AOL accept every recipient probe on purpose, to stop address harvesting, and Gmail and Microsoft 365 throttle probes from cloud ranges. ZapBounce returns what those servers won't settle as unknown, with the reason, and never bills it. See why Yahoo is always unknown.

Hosting and data retention

Verifalia hosts in Germany and the Netherlands, and you can keep results for as little as 5 minutes or as long as 30 days. For a team that wants EU hosting, that's a clear fit.

ZapBounce is hosted in the United States and keeps uploads and results 30 days by default. Each API key sets its own window from 0 days, deleted on download, to 90. Any batch can be deleted at once with DELETE /v1/batches/{id}, and our data processing terms list every sub-processor.

Testing Verifalia on your own list

Take 1,000 addresses you've already mailed, where you know which ones bounced. Run them through Verifalia at the level you'd really use, and through ZapBounce's 100 free monthly checks plus a $5 pack. Score each against your real bounces and note the credits each tool spent.

The scorecard on Verifalia

Both columns are required here. A page that only fills one is an advertisement wearing a review's clothes.

Where Verifalia is genuinely good

  • An explicit choice of depth, with the credit cost of each level published.
  • A detailed classification of why an address failed.
  • EU hosting in Germany and the Netherlands, with results kept from 5 minutes to 30 days.
  • Verifalia publishes an uptime SLA, and a public note when a provider change disrupted service.
  • 25 free checks a day, and purchased credits that never expire.

Where Verifalia falls short

  • High and Extreme use 2 and 4 credits an address, so a thorough clean multiplies the bill.
  • A granular status vocabulary ties your integration code closely to Verifalia.
  • Pack prices show as placeholders to automated reads, so budgeting needs a browser session.
  • No published policy on billing unknown results.

Questions about Verifalia

Is Verifalia good?

Verifalia suits developers who want detailed failure reasons, EU hosting and a choice of check depth. Verifalia publishes an uptime SLA and gives 25 free checks a day. Price it at the quality level you would really run, because High and Extreme use 2 and 4 credits an address.

Where does Verifalia host data?

Verifalia hosts in Germany and the Netherlands and keeps results for 5 minutes to 30 days, your choice (read September 2026). ZapBounce is hosted in the United States and lets each API key keep data for 0 to 90 days.

Which Verifalia quality level should I use?

Standard runs one pass for 1 credit, High up to three for 2 credits and Extreme up to nine for 4 credits. Run a sample of known addresses at Standard first and move up only if the unresolved rows justify four times the credits.

Does Verifalia have a free plan?

Verifalia gives 25 free checks a day, resetting at midnight GMT, and purchased credits never expire. ZapBounce gives 100 free credits every month with no card, and paid credits never expire.

Decide which Verifalia level you'd actually run, then test 1,000 known addresses at that level and on ZapBounce's free monthly checks. Compare the credits spent and the rows left open.
