What 99.6% measures

ZeroBounce claims 99.6% accuracy on most domains and 96%+ on AOL, Yahoo and Office 365, per its facts page on 24 September 2026. It also cites a July 2026 benchmark of 98.0% on a hard-to-validate test list. Figures like these score the verdicts a vendor returned. Addresses with no verdict, such as accept-all domains and servers that never answered, sit outside the sum.

Hunter's benchmark shows why that matters. Hunter tested 15 verifiers on 3,000 real business addresses and counted every one, including those nobody could resolve (3 November 2025). Scores ran from 31.2% to 70.0%. Both kinds of number can be true at once, because they divide by different totals. Our note on why verifiers disagree walks through it.

The suite around the verifier

ZeroBounce sells verification as one tool in a deliverability account. Blacklist monitoring watches your sending IP. Inbox placement testing shows where mail lands, DMARC tooling covers your domain's authentication, and activity data suggests whether an address has engaged recently.

Two terms are worth reading before you buy. The pricing page gives no expiry rule for pay-as-you-go credits. And the terms of use limit the ONE plan's 30-day refund to accounts that have validated 500 addresses or fewer. ZapBounce credits never expire, and 100 free checks arrive every month with no card.

ZeroBounce's docs put bulk speed at about 45 to 60 minutes per 100,000 contacts. Published speeds across the market run from 7 minutes at Emailable to under 2 hours at DeBounce per 100,000, all read on 24 September 2026, so ZeroBounce sits near the middle.

Its privacy policy says uploaded files are deleted after 30 days. You can delete any ZapBounce job at once through the API.

What no price list or review settles

What decides the real cost of ZeroBounce

A rate card describes what an address costs to check. It says nothing about the addresses that come back with no verdict. On a genuine B2B list roughly 28% sit on accept-all domains, where the server accepts every recipient by design. No SMTP check resolves those at mailbox level, at any price. ZapBounce returns them as catch_all and tells you the share up front.

Yahoo and AOL accept every recipient probe deliberately, to stop people mapping their users, so those addresses come back unresolved whichever vendor you pay. ZapBounce never bills an unknown, so an unresolved address costs you nothing. Gmail and Microsoft 365 throttle or refuse probes arriving from cloud ranges, for every vendor.

Pristine spam traps are indistinguishable from working mailboxes at the protocol level. No product removes them and none of the figures on this page changes that. Any vendor claiming trap removal is selling you a probability with the word removal attached.
