ZeroBounce review

We sell a competing verifier, so start by discounting this review appropriately. What we can offer that a roundup site cannot is a reading of the one number everybody quotes, and a clear account of where ZeroBounce is genuinely better than what we built.

Assessed onOur reading
Product breadthThe widest in this category. Verification, placement testing, blacklist monitoring, DMARC tooling, activity data.
Price for verification aloneHigh. $39 buys a 2,000-credit minimum, roughly two cents an address at the floor.
The accuracy claim99.6%, which counts returned verdicts after the hard addresses left the calculation.
Transparency on unknownsWeak. No published policy on billing addresses they could not resolve.
Credit termsGood. Credits roll over while the subscription is active.
Free allowance100 a month on a business domain, recurring rather than one-time.
Track recordLong, with a large public review base and the support organization to match.

Assessed from ZeroBounce's own published material in September 2026. We are a competitor and this is our reading, not an independent test.

What 99.6% is actually counting

This is the part of a ZeroBounce review that roundup sites skip, and it is the only part where we can add something. The figure describes how often a verdict they returned turned out to be right. It is calculated after the accept-all domains and the servers that refused to answer have already left the pool, and those are where all the difficulty lives.

Hunter published a benchmark of 40,000 verifications across this whole field, disclosed the method, and measured everyone between 63% and 70% counting every address. Both numbers are honest. They answer different questions, and the one ZeroBounce publishes is the narrower one. Ask what share of a test list produced a definitive verdict at all, and the percentage starts telling you something useful.

The suite is the product

Judged as a verifier, ZeroBounce is a competent tool at a high price. Judged as what it actually is, the assessment changes. Blacklist monitoring watches your sending IP and tells you when your reputation moves. Inbox placement testing tells you where mail lands rather than whether it was accepted. Their activity data suggests whether an address has shown recent signs of life, which is a genuinely different signal from a protocol verdict.

None of those are things we build, and a verification API does not substitute for them. Campaigns underperform for reasons a list clean will not fix, and those reasons are what this product surfaces where a cheaper verifier says nothing.

Where it disappoints

Two things. The 2,000-credit minimum is a real barrier for small and intermittent users, and the per-address rate at that floor is roughly two cents against published ladders under a tenth of a cent. Both are defensible as suite pricing and both feel wrong to a buyer who only wanted a list cleaned.

The second is the silence on unresolvable addresses. Several vendors in this category now state plainly that they do not bill for a check that produced no answer, and ZeroBounce publishes nothing that we could find. On a B2B list where a quarter of the file sits on accept-all domains, that silence is worth asking about before it becomes a line on an invoice.

The buyer it fits

The product fits a marketing or deliverability team that genuinely opens more than one tab. Where inbox placement testing informs a campaign decision, where blacklist monitoring catches a reputation problem before a client does, where the activity data feeds segmentation, the subscription covers several products and the verification rate stops being the interesting number.

A team cleaning a purchased list once a quarter uses one of those products, and the challenger tier of this market prices that single job an order of magnitude lower.

The scorecard on ZeroBounce

Both columns are required here. A page that only fills one is an advertisement wearing a review's clothes.

Where ZeroBounce is genuinely good

  • The widest product surface in this category by a distance, and the individual pieces are real rather than checkbox features.
  • Activity data on recent engagement, which no SMTP conversation can establish and which nothing we build reproduces.
  • A long operating history, a large review base and a support organization that a challenger cannot match.
  • Credits roll over while the subscription runs, and the free allowance renews monthly rather than once.

Where ZeroBounce falls short

  • The 99.6% headline arrives with no denominator, in a category where the denominator is the entire question.
  • A 2,000-credit minimum at $39 prices out the intermittent user the free tier was clearly meant to serve.
  • No published position on billing for addresses they could not resolve.
  • You pay for the suite whether or not you open it, and nothing in the product surfaces that.

What no price list or review settles

Questions about ZeroBounce

Is ZeroBounce accurate?

As accurate as anyone, which is a narrower claim than 99.6% sounds. Every vendor in this category runs the same SMTP conversation against the same servers, and the differences show up on the hard domains rather than the easy ones. The useful question is what share of your list reaches a verdict at all.

Is ZeroBounce worth the price?

That depends on how much of the suite gets opened. A team using several products divides the bill across them. For verification alone, the per-address rate is roughly ten to fifteen times the challenger tier of this market, and nothing about the verdicts explains that gap on its own.

What is the biggest weakness?

The silence on unresolvable addresses. It is the row that moves the real cost most on a B2B list and the one row their published material does not address.

Should we trust a review written by a competitor?

Partly, and check it. Every factual claim here came from ZeroBounce's own published pages in September 2026 and you can open the same pages. Where we say they beat us, we mean it: the suite, the activity data and the track record are all real and we have none of them.

Log in and look at which ZeroBounce products you opened last quarter. That count is the review that matters, and only you can run it.

We publish our own ladder

Every tier on one page, 100 free checks a month with no card, and we never bill for an address we could not get an answer on. Read it beside ZeroBounce’s, which we checked in September 2026.
