ZapBounce and GetResponse

GetResponse reviews imported lists before they can be mailed, and the review is stricter for new accounts. Their compliance team has been doing this long enough to recognize a purchased list on sight.

Verification does not make a bought list acceptable. It does make a legitimately collected one clear the gate without a conversation.

Two gates, and they check different things

The import review asks about provenance: where did these addresses come from, and did those people agree. That is a documentation question and a verdict does not answer it.

The bounce threshold is the second gate and it is the one verification addresses. GetResponse suspends sending on rates that suggest an unmaintained list, and their thresholds are not generous.

A list that fails the first gate is not rescued by passing the second. Arriving clean helps only when the consent story is already sound.

How the data moves

  1. Verify the file before uploading

The import review reads what you upload. Uploading then cleaning means the review has already seen the worse version.

  2. Export and re-import as CSV

GetResponse exports contacts with custom fields intact, and those columns return untouched in the verified file.

  3. Use a custom field for the verdict

Custom fields work in GetResponse search conditions, so segments can filter on the verdict.

  4. Keep the summary as documentation

A dated batch summary showing what was checked and what could not be resolved answers the deliverability half of the review directly.

Setting it up

  1. Export the contact list from GetResponse as CSV with custom fields.
  2. Verify the file and wait for the completion webhook.
  3. Create a custom field for the verdict in GetResponse.
  4. Import the verified file and submit it for review with the summary to hand.
  5. Build a search condition on the verdict field for your sending segments.
  6. Remove the invalid contacts, keeping a copy of the results file outside the platform.

GetResponse: common questions

Will verification get a purchased list approved?

No, and it should not. The review asks about consent, and the trap risk on bought data survives every clean.

How strict is the GetResponse bounce threshold?

Strict enough that one send to a stale list can trigger it. Ask their support for the current number rather than working from an old figure.

Where should the verdict live?

A custom field, so search conditions and segments can both read it.
