- Not for:
- Continuous monitoring. We send no alerts, so a listing that happens on a Saturday is one you find on Monday unless something else is watching.
A monitoring service with hourly checks and alerting
The value is being told quickly. A listing you find out about on Monday cost you a weekend of delivery, and the underlying data is identical whoever queries it.

- Anyone sending daily, where a listing is expensive per hour.
- Not for:
- Occasional senders, who can check manually before each campaign for nothing.
Spamhaus lookup, checked manually
Free, authoritative, and the list that matters most because so many receivers query it at connection time. Takes two minutes before a campaign.

- Not for:
- Continuous monitoring, since somebody has to remember.
Barracuda Central lookup
Free and worth checking separately, because a Barracuda listing concentrates its damage on business recipients behind their appliances while consumer delivery looks healthy.

When none of these is the answer
Monitoring tells you that you were listed. It does nothing about why, and the why is almost always a compromised account, a purchased list or a complaint rate. Delisting before fixing the cause gets you relisted within hours.

Which blacklists actually matter?
Spamhaus above all, because so many receivers query it at connection time. Barracuda matters for B2B recipients behind their appliances, and SpamCop expires listings automatically once reports stop.
How fast should I know about a listing?
Within the hour if you send daily. A Spamhaus listing turns into refused connections rather than filtered messages, so the cost accrues quickly.
Can list cleaning prevent a blacklisting?
Partly. It removes invalid addresses and some recycled traps. Pristine traps are undetectable, so mailing a purchased list stays dangerous however carefully you clean it.
